In computing, this is called recursion, where a procedure calls itself.
Of course you could get into an infinite loop but that can be avoided if
there is some way that the program knows it has called a bit of itself
and maybe changes something a bit as a result. Programmers like
recursion because they can often get a very lareg effect from very
little coding. Elegant solutions and all of that.

Maybe some expert in recursion should link it to some coding to make the
parallel even stronger?
