Matt,
I had the same problem it was a OpenJDK issue. I installed Sun Java and JDK and that \
fixed the issue.

Subject: [opennms-install] HTTP ERROR: 503
Hello all,
I just installed OpenNMS on a Ubuntu 10 system. The entire process went fine, no \
errors. I cannot, however, reach the web UI. I receive an error 503, Problem \
accessing /opennms/ Service Unavailable. I have been checking the support archives, \
but the only reference I could find is after an upgrade. The user then had issues \
with some of the config files and they simply replaced the new ones with other \
versions and set permissions. I have no other versions of these files to work with.
I grepped the output.log file for errors and there were none. The jetty.log file \
does give the following error 2011-02-04 17:19:12,395 ERROR [Main] log: Failed \
startup of context org.mortbay.jetty.webapp.WebAppContext@12da0348{/opennms,/usr/share/opennms/jetty-webapps/opennms}
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Matt

The modern datacenter depends on network connectivity to access resources
and provide services. The best practices for maximizing a physical server's
connectivity to a physical network are well understood - see how these
rules translate into the virtual world?
