First off, you are using GCJ, which isn't cool.  We only support  
Sun's JVM.

See the install guide about using runjava to select a specific JVM  
and point it at a Sun JVM.

Then, if it still doesn't work, let us know what kind of a system you  
are running on (32 or 64 bit hardware?), what OS, and what version of  
Java.
