Hi,
I know this is resurrecting an old thread but I wanted to come back to this=
issue as it's still occurring, and I never followed up after the replies I=
received (for which I apologize).
I'm focusing on one particular node for which data collection last stopped =
on the 2nd February after restarting itself around the 22nd January. No cha=
nges were made to the node or within OpenNMS at the time that I am aware of=
.
What should I be looking for in the logs? I turned on DEBUG for collectd to=
day and searched an hour's worth of logs without finding any references to =
my node's IP or ID number. I also looked at historical logs (without DEBUG)=
going back to the 2nd and the instrumentation log shows collection for my =
node starting on the 22nd January and then it just stops logging anything f=
or my node's IP at the time the data collection stops on the 2nd. I don't s=
ee any errors or warnings indicating anything went wrong.
I'm able to do an snmpwalk from the OpenNMS server to my node without any t=
rouble, so SNMP is working.
Does OpenNMS "blacklist" nodes it can't get data from?
Thanks for your help.
Regards, Dominic

I would propose to activate debug logging level for collectd daemon and che=
ck the appropriate logfile for the ip addresses of the nodes that don't col=
lect" to see if they are no longer asked to deliver data or if they are no =
longer answering to the snmp requests.
