Isn't this done for you already in the default Threshold configuration? (at least, \
for the switches!)
See the temperature settings here in /opennms/etc/thresholds.xml
<group name="cisco"
rrdRepository = "/opt/opennms/share/rrd/snmp/">
<threshold type="high" ds-name="avgBusy5" ds-type="node" ds-label="" \
value="80" rearm="50" trigger="3"/> <threshold type="relativeChange" \
ds-name="cscoMemPoolUtl5Min" ds-type="ciscoMemoryPoolType" \
ds-label="cscoMemoryPoolName" value="0.25" rearm="0.0" trigger="1"/> <threshold \
type="high" ds-name="cvmTempStatusValue" ds-type="ciscoEnvMonTemperatureStatusIndex" \
ds-label="cvmTempStatusDescr" value="55.0" rearm="50.0" trigger="3"/> <threshold \
type="relativeChange" ds-name="cvmTempStatusValue" \
ds-type="ciscoEnvMonTemperatureStatusIndex" ds-label="cvmTempStatusDescr" value="0.2" \
rearm="0.0" trigger="1"/> </group>
OpenNMS collects from the CISCO-ENVMON-MIB by default. See the OIDs that are \
collected in /opennms/etc/datacollection/cisco.xml
If the MIB objects that you are interested in are not collected by default, you \
should be able to add them to the datacollection configs and set a threshold as \
appropriate.
Alternatively, the devices can be configured to send SNMP traps for the overheat \
conditions. You would have to make sure that the devices have your OpenNMS server set \
as the trap destination (and of course, verify that the appropriate MIB is loaded on \
OpenNMS.)

Subject: [opennms-discuss] Alert notice for Cisco switches and UPS Overheat?
I need to create notice and send alert email for overheat Cisco switches and UPS.
The system is OpenNMS v10.8 on Linux.
Please advise the related information.
Thanks a lot.
Mike
