With 2500 nodes on the test box, I think it has 12 or 16GB of RAM and at one
point mid-1.8 code I had to bump heap to 8G to keep things stable. Your
mileage may vary.

Would definitely group provisions by node "profile," and make the most use
of efficient detection and polling per group.
