I'm running 1.3.1 on RHEL4 on a dual 3.2Ghz 4GB system and I'm seeing a
very high CPU load coming from postmaster (most of the time, it seems
quiet for a bit after a restart). I only have about 200 or so devices
being monitored right now. I would have expected to be able to monitor a
lot more on a system (hardware) like this.
I followed the instructions and have set in postgresql.conf:
tcpip_socket = true
max_connections = 256
shared_buffers = 1024
sort_mem = 1024
Are there any database or systems tuning anyone has found to increase
performance or efficiency?
