In general, Sata support in the 2.4.x kernel is spotty, even with the
ATA patch....
and the newest hardware you are likely to want to buy usually *only* has
SATA, and also has very new SATA chipsets that theres no hope of getting
working, esp. the Marvell SATA chipset.... so if you must buy SATA, get
the 3ware 2-port SATA raid card, and you'll be set, those drivers are
solid in 2.4.x

Its also worth mentioning that "I have heard" that the standard IDE mode
(PATA) on newer montherboards often works, but is fairly slow. Slower than
regular PATA, I dont know if that is true, but if you need good disk
performance, the
3ware SATA card is the way to go. Too bad it sacrifices your single PCI
slot in a 1U configuration. Also make sure your 3ware card is compatible
with the type of PCI slot you have as well.... I dont thing the 2-drive
3ware
is made in a pci-express version.

Please someone correct me if I have misstated anything here.

And while Im at it.... thanks to the OpenMosix team for all the hard work!
