Yes! In a replicated environments where certain ou's sit on either side of slow WAN \
links this is ideal. It is also used extensively by us for authentication. Most apps \
do not understand hierarchical directories and only work in flat environments. So we \
are forced to alias users into ou's (containers) which only the application knows \
about. The application then authenticates against the aliased copy of the users info.
