In checking this lists archives, I discovered that some folks were having
similar problems to myself when attempting to use OpenLDAP as an LDAP
sever for Netscape Roaming profiles. It appears that there is some
disconnected between the Netscape client and the ldap server when it comes
to updating the bookmarks: namely, it doesn't work :-)

After performing an update via a Netscape 4.5 client (tried both NT, and
Solairs versionsof netscape), the openldap server reports:

# ldapsearch -D "cn=bpaden,ou=People,o=MRNet,c=US" -w testing "nsLIElementType=bookmark*"
nsLIElementType=bookmarks,nsLIProfileName=bpaden,ou=ROAMING,o=MRNet,c=US
nslielementtype=bookmarks
owner=cn=bpaden,ou=People,o=MRNet,c=US
objectclass=nsLIProfileElement
objectclass=top
nsliversion=1
nslidata=NOT ASCII

I am assuming that the final line of the search results tells all:
openLDAP doesn't like the html format of the netscape bookmark file (or
perhaps netscape is attempting to send it in binary format for some weird
reason). Has anyone come up with a fix or workaround for this problem?
Does anyone know what is going on?

Thanks ...
