But then if you can get a factor of four just by better coding, you have
to wait some days for a factor four cpu.

One arrgument - a minor one - is that most ppl speak C (even the C++ ones),
but not everyone speaks C++. E.g. I for myself did many things in ObjC, but
never touched C++ so far.
