The first and simplest way is look at the paths.  Here's an old
pythonsvn package and its files:

http://www.opencsw.org/search/pythonsvn/

If you get the same paths in the new package, it's quite likely good.
You can then release it into unstable and ask the original bug
reporter to test it.
