i've been trying to no avail to bring attention to this on misc@. on
sun4c, using cvs, i am not able to use /dev/cuab or /dev/cuaa. the
machine in question is a sparc ipx. there is a serial cable connecting
it to a sparc 20 (null). the only other device used on the box is le0.
at present, i cannot even connect (to another machine) over `cu -l
/dev/console`, whereas earlier today, that was working.
luke:ksh # ls -la /dev/cuaa /dev/cuab /dev/console
crw------- 1 root wheel 0, 0 Oct 25 19:41 /dev/console
crw-rw---- 1 uucp dialer 12, 128 Oct 12 21:24 /dev/cuaa
crw-rw---- 1 uucp dialer 12, 129 Oct 12 21:24 /dev/cuab
of course, i keep getting these:
Oct 25 19:50:24 luke /bsd: zstty0: 31 silo overflows, 0 ibuf floods
with various explanations on misc all stating things like "oh, youre
using a serial mouse" or "oh, thats a modem problem". there are no
modems, mouses, or other things attached. getty is not running on
/dev/console. i'd really like to work on this problem and get it fixed.
sparcs are pretty hosed if serial breaks.
alex
