I just did this (OBSD3.7/Sparc):

mkdir /pickle
mount_mfs -P /home/kamath -s 200 swap /pickle
mount_mfs -o update,rdonly -s 200 swap /pickle

and that seems to have worked just fine. . . (yeah, my home directory
is tiny on that box).
