I use a PowerBook G4 as a day-to-day laptop and I can do everything I
need.

Suspend/Resume is not supported yet nor the integrated wireless. These
are long-term issues I'm working on.

I watch youtube video with my favorite media player after downloading
them. Firefox is not really usable on powerpc, but it could receive some
more love, as it is quite fast in its tenfourfox flavor on the same
machine.

So if you can live with a lightweight browser and text editor, I would
say that G4s are good enough.

To answer your last question, you want to avoid the 12" model that comes
with an nvidia graphic card if you want to use 3D acceleration.

M.
