I just had to respond.

I've been learning Unix since June of 2000. So far, much to my 
dismay, most questions I've asked have had a simple that answer that 
I just couldn't see for the forest.

Sometimes one just gets so involved in the problem itself that the 
answer, though in plain sight, remains utterly unseen and the "dumb" 
question comes out. Often followed by one's own "duh".

The lesson? Be patient. Both with yourself, and with others.
