I think you need a couple of things

1) a /usr/X11R6/lib line in /etc/ld.so.conf

2) a ldconfig /usr/X11R6/lib in /etc/rc
 
3) You might need a softlink /usr/lib/libc.so.17 pointing to the current
libc version.
