based upon radeonhd from X driver?

The X drivers are a good place to start.  Both the S3 and ATI video drivers that I \
have done, were based upon code in the X drivers.  Before I did those drivers, I had \
no experience writing a video driver.

BTW, what is the video chip that you need a driver for?
