Steve,

I think that this behavior may be considered a bug:

I have two independent clusters.
I physically merge them (put a jumper between their respective switches
to join them).
They are totally unaware of each other until someone does a mcast.
Since the tokens are directed to a particular address, no one notices
that there are other nodes passing their tokens.
Once, one of the nodes sends some sort of message, the configuration
change then happens.

It was somewhat confusing, I re-connected the split cluster and nothing
happened.  I though that I hadn't connected them correctly so I sent a
message to see who got it.  Then the config change happened.

I wonder if there shouldn't be an occasional keep alive mcast to detect
other clusters being connected to the network.
