Hi,
Please follow the steps below to enable traditional Nepali layout in a
8.2 series build:
1. Copy the following files:
http://dev.laptop.org/~sayamindu/trad_np_xkb/locale.dir to /usr/share/X11/locale
http://dev.laptop.org/~sayamindu/trad_np_xkb/np to /usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols
http://dev.laptop.org/~sayamindu/trad_np_xkb/olpc-session to /usr/bin
http://dev.laptop.org/~sayamindu/trad_np_xkb/.XCompose to /home/olpc
2. Set /home/olpc/.i18n to
LANG="ne_NP.UTF-8"
(note that it is not "ne_NP.utf8")
3. Set /etc/sysconfig/keyboard to
KEYTABLE="us"
XKB_MODEL="olpc"
XKB_LAYOUT="us,np"
XKB_VARIANT="olpc2,olpc"
4. Restart X
Please check the layout against
http://wiki.laptop.org/images/c/c3/NP-MP-v4.png (my knowledge of
Devanagari can be quite rusty at times - so there are bound to be
mistakes :-)
