Comment:

In the new keyboard layout, the keys in the right bar should be
decrease/increase brightness/volume, from left to right. Having these
dedicated brightness keys places clearer iconography on the buttons, and
also completely removes the fidelity problem on the slider key. The
adjustment intervals can be easily set to provide enough levels for
 output.

The slider shouldn't be connected to brightness anymore. This was
specifically done in order to free its functionality up for use by
 activities.

As a side note, we may want to allow auto-repeat for these level
adjustment keys. The more levels we add to them, the more annoying it
will be to get to "mute" from full volume, etc. Autorepeat buys us a
quick fix for that. Additionally, we should make sure that [meta-(volume
 | brightness)(up | down)] has the effect of mute, backlight off, full
volume, and full brightness. That's not necessarily discoverable, but
there's no sense in omitting it.
