re: symantec/veritas backup exec v.11d agent on windows 2003
attempts to connect to database 10g
(IBM x345 server / Windows 2003 Enterprise Server / Oracle
Enterprise 10.2.0.3.x Jan08 CPU)
WE ARE DOING COLD BACKUPS, THE VERITAS/SYMANTEC BACKUP EXEC AGENT IN
USE IS *NOT* THE BACKUP EXEC ORACLE AGENT, IT IS THE GENERIC FILE
SERVER AGENT, WITH ADVANCED OPEN FILE OPTION (AOFO).
ORACLE IS ALWAYS SHUTDOWN WHEN BACKUPS RUN.
I see sqlnet.log errors in the backup exec agent directory in the
C:\Programs... directory on a windows 2003 oracle db 10g server.
the windows event logs also show an attempt by "veritas_svc" to
"connect /".
Question: WTF is a file server backup agent that is (presumably) not
designed to interface with a database doing trying to "connect /" an
Oracle's listener ???
Any feedback is appreciated.
TIA!~
Eric
ps, so far OTS has suggested possibility of turning off OS
authentication (which allows DBA "connect / as sysdba" for specific
OS administrator accounts - same as old "connect internal") if we
are worred about "security". My sysadmins hate symantec/veritas
support, but we might try talking to them next if no one here has
seen the issue.
