Didn't find that documented anywhere.
Looks like ntpd is not touching the clock (note the offset/frequency
variables):
root@katare:~# ntpq -crv
associd=0 status=c616 leap_alarm, sync_ntp, 1 event, restart,
version="ntpd 4.2.7p386@1.2483 Sun Sep 1 12:41:05 UTC 2013 (1)",
processor="i686", system="Linux/3.2.0-4-686-pae", leap=11, stratum=3,
precision=-20, rootdelay=1.516, rootdisp=36.455, refid=149.20.68.27,
reftime=d5f0507d.61823002 Fri, Sep 27 2013 18:44:13.380,
clock=d5f050ae.655218b0 Fri, Sep 27 2013 18:45:02.395, peer=50056, tc=6,
mintc=3, offset=0.000000, frequency=0.000, sys_jitter=0.971229,
clk_jitter=0.001, clk_wander=0.000
The ntpd syslog messages look good.
Thanks for the hint.
