To Whom it May Concern,
I have a question/problem with NTP staying synchronized.
Here is my situation. I have a unix machine running NTP in which I want a
machine running Linux 2.4.9-12 to be "slaved" to in regards to time. The
version of NTP I am running is 4.0.99k-15. The problem is this; the Linux
machine starts off being synched to the unix machine, but after awhile, the
offset grows large and then the Linux machine stops listening to the unix
machine even though in the configuration file it was specified to listen to
the unix machine (by using prefer).
Since I an very new to NTP, I'm not sure why the Linux machine doesn't stay
synchronized.
Is there something I am doing wrong?? (I'm sure there is, I just don't know
what!!)
If someone could give me some ideas of what might be happening and what I
can do to fix the problem, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you in advance,
David Wallace
