You need to be the user who's able to create the rrds in the directory 
you specified. IF you create the rrds under (let's say) /var, you ought 
to be root

This is because you said to ntop to save all of your hosts. Please 
configure this properly

Same as above. I;m almost sure you have the very same host seen with IP 
and MAC ad the same this. This is either an ntop config issue or you 
have an issue in your net
