(1) Please start a new thread w/ appropriate subject - that way people can
find the ?/answer in the back traffic.

(2) Logging as in the web server access log? Or as in ntop's --trace-level??

Either way, it's just one file (either the one you specify for the web
server access log) or the one from the OS's syslog function. You can use
OS/system functions such as log rotate with the latter.

Thanks!! I will definitely do that.

One more question: How many logfies does ntop maintain? I want full
logging capability because I am pushing those to another box

Currently it is set at -1. Is there a definition somewhere for those
levels?

the prefs db file. You can see the underlying settings via Admin |
Configure | Preferences.

However, be careful - some preferences act oddly when set both ways (command
line and web). To fix this you sometimes have to go into the database and
delete records.

You should pick one method and stick with it.

Hello,

I have a question. I realize that ntop is started with a command and a
series of arguments. My question is this:

If I go into the admin/configure/startup options/debugging preferences
section, I can set a parameter to send all ntop logs to the local syslog
server.

It says the change will take effect upon restart.

  Where is that change archived?

   Thanks

   Steve
