Use the rrd plugin - it can generate graphs of any rrd you want.

If you want to work with the data, you can install rrdtools (and of the
1.0.x versions are fine) to get access to the extract and dump options - see
the rrdtools man page.

I read some documentation about ntop and found that The last version 3.1.50
(downloaded via cvs) does not Need any RRD plugins as it already has a
native RRD Implementation embedded.

So, how can I configure ntop to store detailed information About network
traffic, IP addresse, protocols, etc. In such A way that I can get
information about a period of time?

Thanks
Stefano

Subject: [Ntop] history and ntop

Hi all,

I am a new ntop user.
I installed ntop on a linux system with
PF_RING kernel patch and a PF_RING-enabled libpcap.

Everything is working fine and, with my web browser, I can see the traffic
on the net and identify hosts which are using a non authorized program Such
as WinMX or Kaza.

For many reasons, I have to have a detailed Historical view of the traffic.
For example, by using the web interface I Would see if the IP xx.xx.xx.xx
started a WinMX session and generated xx bytes of traffic xx days ago.

Can the current version of ntop do that?

I notice a "historical view" link in the web interface Of ntop, but this
view shows only various graphs For the total traffic.

Thanks in advance
Stefano Martini
