Hi again,

Another issue, I would like to mention is that most of the contents in the directory \
/opt/gridengine of the front-end have root as an owner and group while in nodes the \
owner and the group is the sge. While performing step 10 of the first link, where we \
copy the contents of mpich2_mpd directory from the front-end to nodes, the copied \
directory has root as owner and group. Is this ok or do we have to modify the owner \
and the group at nodes to sge.

Thanks in advance.

1) Yes, the same procedure should work for Rocks 5.2:

   Original instructions:
   http://marc.info/?l=npaci-rocks-discussion&m=127451905407577
   http://marc.info/?l=npaci-rocks-discussion&m=127473255909189

   Minor clarification hints:

   Background info:
   http://marc.info/?l=npaci-rocks-discussion&m=127451896407457

2) One new note is that I've had 2 reports that some older Rocks installs
(especially Rocks 5.2 with some version of the Service Pack roll
installed) have a bug in their default SGE configuration that will
cause the MPICH2 tight integration scripts to fail when run by SGE:

Type "qconf -sconf" to see the SGE global configuration:

   # qconf -sconf
   ...
   qrsh_command /usr/bin/ssh
   rsh_command /usr/bin/ssh
   rlogin_command /usr/bin/ssh
   ...

If you have those 3 lines present near the end of the file, type
"qconf -mconf" as root and delete only those 3 lines. Do not change
   anything else in the file.

There should already be "rlogin_command" and "rsh_command" lines
earlier in the file which are both mapped to "builtin". Those are
correct. Do not change those earlier lines.

Exit out of the editor to save the changes. Type "qconf -sconf"
to show the updated SGE configuration file and double-check that
   those 3 lines are gone.

If you don't delete those 3 lines, submitted SGE jobs using the
"mpich2_mpd" PE will fail to run properly on the compute nodes.

This bug was corrected in January 2010:
