Jonathan,

This is all you have to do to load up the old library (at least in ROCKS 4.3).

20) Load old library libstdc++.so.5, it will install the old library
in: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5
         a) rpm -i -v
/home/install/rolls/os/4.3/i386/RedHat/RPMS/compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.3.i386.rpm
         b) if needed on compute nodes
         cluster-fork rpm -i -v
/home/install/rolls/os/4.3/i386/RedHat/RPMS/compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-47.3.i386.rpm

It is not advisable to update ROCKS once it is loaded (unless you
really know what you are doing).
I have no idea about your password problem.

Good Luck!

Paul
