I'll reply to my own post. After getting similar kernel panics booting off
the Rocks CD and my Fedora Core 4 CD, I decided to boot my memtest86+ 1.65
disc, and I'm getting hundreds of memory errors. I may have had a
self-destruct overnight.

Subject: [Rocks-Discuss]Rocks 4.1 "Rocks reinstall" kernel panic

I'm running into a problem with a node that crashed, when powering it back
up, it boots the "Rocks reinstall" kernel, but panics with an awful lot of
messages that float off the top of the screen, leaving me with these clues:

Code: Bad RIP value.
RIP [<fffffff0801a7d10>] RSP <ffffffff804a1510>
CR2: fffffff0801a7d10
<0>Kernel panic - not syncing: Oops

Vitals:
OS: Rocks 4.1, original kernel
System (node): Penguin Systems Altus 4100 dual Opteron 280, 8GB RAM

I don't seem to have this problem with our single-core (Opteron 250) nodes.

I can't scroll back to see where in the boot process this error actually
occurred.

Any advice?

Bob
