/usr/bin/gdm looks exactly the same as mentioned.
I have managed to overcome the user login problem.
Solution ==>
Cd /export/home
Chmod 755 francis
Logout
Login as francis

I'm not sure why, but for the viz roll on Rocks 3.3.0 we had to change
the file /usr/bin/gdm to not source the /etc/profile.d scripts. So for
Rocks 3.2.0 try doing the same thing, can make sure /usr/bin/gdm looks
like the following.
$ cat /usr/bin/gdm
#!/bin/sh
exec /usr/bin/gdm-binary "$@"
Startx from runlevel 3 should work fine out of the box, but the GDM
runlevel 5 graphical login fails to start without this change.
