I'm trying to use pool snapshots to create a series of archives of a
volume.
The problem is that the volumes within the snapshot are automatically
assigned names such as DATA_SV, DATA_SV_AR etc depending on the
order in which they are activated. What I would prefer is to have names
based on the date, such as DATA_20050120, DATA_20050121 etc.

I know I can use nssmu or iManager to rename the volumes but ideally
this
needs to be an automated process. Is there a command line utility or
Perl
script I can use to rename the volumes?

Thanks,

I haven't looked into this, but you can "control" NSS by reading &
writting XML files within the _ADMIN volume. Trying looking at the
developer side of Novell.

IIRC what you want is mentioned in the volume snapshot manual. Wished I
could recall it exactly, but it's only 20-30 pages so finding it
shouldn't be too difficult. You will have to figure out how to automate
the command line though. Again, IIRC it's done at the time of creation
so you'll have to pass the date to the script, but with all the script
language options you have choices.

Has anyone tried the Test-Um Inc NT950 Validator? I am looking for
something that can do a good test of cat5 and cat6 cable. I don't
really want to spend the thousands that most testers cost. I just want
to make sure that 1000 dollars for this unit is really worth it.
Sometimes cheaper is not a good thing.

Thanks
