Jeff,

Open a shell and at the prompt type "su -" and hit enter. At the prompt
enter your root password, and press the "enter" key. When you have the root
prompt type the command "ifconfig" and hit enter. This will display your
current settings for your network devices. It looks like your irlan0
interface is currently disabled. Just to be thorough, let's type "ifdown
irlan0" and press the "enter" key. This will shut that interface down in an
orderly fashion. Next type "ifup irlan0" and press the enter key. This
should enable your irlan0 interface. It looks like it is already configured
for DHCP so that should be okay. Next let's type "ping www.sony.com" and see
if we get a responce. If so, hoorray! if not, then we have more work to do.
