A caching DNS server is not a panacea. It slows down your update time
for real changes. It also will not pre-cache things for you; so if you
access a server less frequently than its records time out, you will
still have a delay. And some delays will be exacerbated, because now
you will have a delay while you wait for the caching server, and it is
delaying waiting for the remote server.
A caching DNS server can sometimes help if a large number of users with
similar interests are searching from it, and thus also feeding into it.
Otherwise, it's more likely to get in the way.
