You can always just ignore the novell startup scripts (turn off execute bit,
is one way) and create your own script(s).

Add some code to check if they are already running (ps -something | grep poa
(or mta, etc) is one way), before starting, and, with a little work, and
crontab,  you could have your own "high reliability" system.   If you are
clustered, the script can be run from the cluster startup script as well
(instead ?).

We did along those lines, as the "Netware like" screens were desired, while
having the agents startup automagically.
