I have used the ncpmount method to migrate nw6.5.8 to an oes2sp1 vm with no problem. \
i did discover that if you ctrl-c the dbcopy, you will loose the ncpmount connection \
automatically.

I'm migrating a 100 Gig post office from NetWare to LINUX. Last night I started up \
a dbcopy on a windows pc, with a drive mapped to my netware box and a drive mapped \
via ncp to my OES 2, sp1b box. When I got in this morning, it showed that it lost \
the connection to the NetWare server during the night. So, I decided to eliminate \
the middle man, ncpmounted a mount point from my OES Linux server directly to the \
Novell server and kicked off the dbcopy on the OES box. But about an hour or two \
into it, it lost the ncp connection. So, I looked over the NetWare server and \
changed it from 100mbs full duplex to autonegotiate and voila, I had gigabit \
connectivity, but after an hour or so, lost connectivity again. every time I lose \
connectivity, i have to re-run my ncpmount command because it can no longer see the \
mount. I've been doing this all day. Driving me a little insane.
My customer wants me to try the gw server migration utility, but I think we'll run \
into the same connectivity issue. Can anybody confirm whether the utility has the \
ability to maintain a connection where ncpmount doesn't or does it simply use \
ncpmount?
Oh, as a last effort this afternoon, I applied sp8 to the NetWare server thinking if \
it had all the latest and greatest, it would help resolve any issues. Nope. Same \
issue. Oh, and the OES box is on VMWare.
Based on all of this information, does anybody have any ideas or suggestions to help \
me finish my freaking dbcopy without losing my mind?
Thanks in advance.
Matt
