That is really weird, because my experience has shown be that even if the
client has cleanup options set to auto-delete stuff it seems like only the
pc client would actually process the task. But, it seems like this is a
good explanation for what happened, so I am going to go with that.

Thanks for the info.

Strangely enough, it did trash the mail. Apparently with the clock
screwed up it thought the mail was past the "auto-delete" time and
kicked it. Thought the server did that not the client but hey, that's
what happenned. Our desktop techs changed the batteries and reset the
time and the problem went away.

So that might trash the mail? I still need to check with the tech to
see
what he did when he was out there, but this was quite a mysterious
event.

The only time I saw something like this, the m-board battery on the
Mac
was dead, so the time on the box was set to whatever its beginning
time
is.

Just curious if anyone has seen this. The mac is OS 9.2, the gw
client
5.2.8. The user had problems which no one has really been able to
explain
to me what happened (of course, I was on vacation that week). Later
that
evening the user logged in, got an error on the POA (they didn't see
it
on
their computer) and all their mail disappeared, on the POA log it
shows
that
it is being deleted by the user (800 items, sent/received). There is
also a
memory function error for the user at that time. The poa is 6.5.1.
While
I'm restoring away, I thought I'd see if this log file is more telling
to
anyone else. I've changed the userid and ip address, but left the
other
info the same. User upkeep does not happen at this time. Also noted
that
her auto-delete was set to 180 days, but I seem to recall that the
older mac
client ignored those settings so the changing date issue shouldn't
matter
here as you can see she logged in from a mac.

Thanks for looking.
