NFR Security Enhances Award Winning Network Intrusion Detection System -
Releases NFR NID V3.0

NFR NID V3.0 Built to Address Specific Customer Requirements; Delivers
Multiple New Features and Benefits to Improve Ease-of-Use, Increase Overall
Enterprise Security

ROCKVILLE, MD, November 12, 2002 – NFR Security, Inc., a leading developer
of Intrusion Management Solutions, today announced the general availability
of NFR NID V3.0, the company’s award-winning network intrusion detection
system. Already recognized as offering one of the industry’s best
performing network-based systems, NFR Security’s NFR NID V3.0 reflects
enhancements and new features requested directly from NFR Security
customers.

The primary focus of this latest release is in the area of improved data
presentation and manipulation. As a result, NFR NID V3.0 delivers customers
a number of significant enhancements to the Administration Interface (AI),
particularly in the area of “alert tuning.” Eliminating false positives,
for example, is now as easy as point and click from within the user
interface. New features relate to providing additional information such as
Host Name for IP addresses, as well as increased flexibility of presentation
and handling of information such as the ability to sort alert information by
IP address.

“NFR Security’s network intrusion detection system has always produced fewer
false positives than other competitive systems due to its advanced detection
engine and flexible customization facilities,” said Andre Yee, executive
vice president for product development, NFR Security. “In the past, alert
tuning required customization of our N-Code along with some AI capabilities.
With the release of NFR NID V3.0, users now can perform extensive alert
management, including the elimination of false positives, with the AI,
without having to make N-Code modifications. This offering clearly
positions NFR Security as the market leader in providing customers with the
most feature-rich network intrusion detection system.”
-more-
NFR NID V3.0 includes functionality for effectively dealing with the large
amount of data that can be generated by network intrusion detection sensors.
With most competitive products the administrator either has to manually cope
with vast amounts of data or deploy another product to help reduce the data
to something meaningful and timely. The NFR approach is to filter out
unnecessary or unimportant data before it reaches the administrator.

“NFR Security is much more than your typical security vendor in the sense
that they actually act upon customer input when building their intrusion
detection systems,” said Scott C. Kennedy, Director of Security for Infosys.
“They follow through on their promise to address our specific requirements.
This is rare, as many of our requests are complicated and difficult to
incorporate. NFR Security meets our rigorous demands while many other
vendors simply tell us that our requests are not possible. We truly value
our close relationship with NFR Security.”

Price Range: $7,500- $19,900
