What OS?

Try 1.2.9-3. One problem with 1.2.9-2 was the tarball was missing
getopt.c

Also, OpenBSD (and possibly other BSD flavors) may need to use gmake
from the ports collection, instead of their native make.

 MAKE=gmake ../configure
 gmake
