Greg,

Thanks for the tip. It took 3 attemps. I eventually deleted the source directory, \
re-extracted the files, changed the permissions of the updated check_ping.c file to \
reflect the original plugins, make all, make install, /etc/rc.d/init.d/netsaint \
start. Viola!

Thanks again
Shane

Shane I just went through the same issue. I am running RH 7.3 with 1.2.9-4 plugins \
as well. Check posts from a couple of days ago. It was suggested that you get the \
check_ping command from the negios.com version of the plugins which is what I did. \
Then recompile the plugins (include the --with-ping-command). You can get the new \
check_ping.c file from the cvs web site for the negios plug-ins. \
                Good Luck.

Netsaint Ping problem - returns command?

    System is RH7.3 with netsaint-0.0.7 with netsaint-plugins-1.2.9-4

When check_ping is executed it seems the command is returned rather than the \
output.

    Compiled the netsaint-plugins-1.2.9-4.tar as-

    ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/netsaint --with-netsaint-user=netsaint \
--with-netsaint-group=netsaint -with-cgiurl=/netsaint/ --with-ping-command="/bin/ping \
-U -n %s -c 5"

    Netsaint returns, at the browser, /bin/ping -U -n 192.168.0.13 -c 5

Using the check_ping cgi from the netsaint-plugins-1.2.9-3.i386.rpm gives \
/bin/ping -n -c 5 192.168.0.13

Note that when compiling the pluggins without the "--with-ping-command="/bin/ping \
-U -n %s -c 5"" option the system stops at the ping command. Any suggestion much \
appreciated. I have had older versions running without a hitch, Ethan has done an \
outstanding job, thanks. Shane
