Hi everyone,
I got it working on the "long way around" method. I put in the whole
check_by_ssh into a double quote ("") and got it working. That for sure
fingered my improper syntax in setting up the lines in COMMAND.CFG and in
HOSTS.CFG. I will go experiment with my syntax on my own time. Thanks for
all your help!
Working line in service section of HOSTS.CFG.
service[testmachine]=/home/shared;1;24x7;3;5;1;linux-admins;60;24x7;1;1;1;;"
/usr/local/netsaint/libexec/check_by_ssh -H 192.168.1.40 -l netsaint -C
"/usr/local/netsaint/libexec/check_disk 75 85 /dev/sdc1""

Why don't you simplify the command cfg...
command[check_by_ssh]=$USER1$/check_by_ssh -H $HOSTADDRESS$ -l $ARG1$ -C
$ARG2$
service[testmachine]=/home/shared;1;24x7;3;5;1;linux-admins;60;24x7;1;1;1;;c
heck_by_ssh!netsaint!!"/usr/local/netsaint/lib
exec/check_disk -w80% -c90% /dev/sdc1"
-sg
