Subject: How do machines boot?

Folks,
I'd like to put together some info describing how various machines boot,
especially off CD-ROMs, with the aim of getting a NetBSD install CD
to boot of as many types of machines as is possible. Ross Harvey has
already done some work to this end, with a 1.4.1 CD that booted off
i386, alpha, sparc and some (most?) macppcs. At the moment, the only
architecture I'm completely familiar with the pmax - info for other
machines will be gladly accepted...
This info will probably live under Documentation/kernel/ somewhere on
the NetBSD web pages - any better suggestions?
Simon.
