I see Dan already answered your question. Regarding the mailing-lists,
if you have general NetBSD(/Unix) questions, you might want to try
subscribing to netbsd-help@netbsd.org as well. port-i386 is really for
issues that are specific to Intel hardware. netbsd-help is for general
questions.
