I've got my own NAS setup on Ubuntu 17 using zfs in RAIDZ, I've configured
netatalk so we can access it from our Macbooks, but my wife keeps having
trouble with files "disappearing" while she's using it. Looking in the
logs, everytime this happens I see something like this:

Mar 19 09:20:22 central cnid_dbd[26218]: Conversion failed ( UTF8 to
CH_UCS2 )
Mar 19 09:20:22 central cnid_dbd[26218]: idxname: conversion error
Mar 19 09:20:22 central cnid_dbd[26218]: error deleting key/value from
cnid2.db: BDB0088 DB_SECONDARY_BAD: Secondary index inconsistent with
primary
Mar 19 09:20:22 central cnid_dbd[26218]: dbd_delete: Unable to delete entry
for CNID 35110
Mar 19 09:20:22 central cnid_metad[16773]: cnid_dbd[26218] exited with exit
code 1
Mar 19 09:20:22 central cnid_metad[16773]: maybe_start_dbd: respawn window
ended

Indicating some sort of database corruption? If I recreate the database
with dbd it fixes it, but that's obviously sub-optimal.

My afpd.conf looks like this:

[Global]
    vol preset = my default values
    log level  = default:info
    disconnect time = 1

[my default values]
    ea = samba
    cnid scheme = dbd

[jmcallis]
    path = /data/wife
    rolist = me

[smcallis]
    path = /data/me
    rolist = wife

[media]
    path = /data/media

Does anyone know how I can prevent this corruption from occuring? The
volume is shared out via NFS as well, but generally she's the only one
using things when it gets corrupted...
