What do you mean with "forced uid and gids"?

Just FYI: With AFP 2.x there exist only folder permissions. Files will be
treated identical to the surrounding folder.

The traditional SGID behaviour (creating folders with 2775 for example) is
broken in some netatalk releases and is still broken (up to 1.5.3.1) when
netatalk is build with 'unstable compilers' (like the one, RedHat uses)
