This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

Snmp crashes whenever I do a query against it. Whether it's via a
monitoring tool or snmpwalk on the localhost and it always hangs on the
same MIB.

This is the last MIB that I see when I do a snmpwalk:

HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrDeviceIndex.769 = INTEGER: 769.

I then get:

Timeout: No Response from localhost

I have to stop/start snmpd in order to get it to response again.

If I do a snmpgetnext, I get as the next MIB:

HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrDeviceIndex.1552 = INTEGER: 1552

But, on a sister machine, I see the next mib is actually:

HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrDeviceIndex.1280 = INTEGER: 1280

I believe this is checking printer status. If this is so, this printer
does not have any printers configured, and the print daemon isn't even
running, so why would it be hanging on printers?

The server is a Solaris 10 server, and I believe that the snmp version
is 5.0.9.

If someone has any thoughts, or ideas, I would love to hear them.

Thanks.

Daryl Rose
