Subject: managing /var/lib/net-snmp data in custom daemon

we have a custom snmp daemon using libnetsnmp,
we would like to keep data in our own file,
is it possible to install a hook, or some other
mechanism to manage this data.
or must we stick with /var/lib/net-snmp/x.conf ?
