Thanks folks for all your help.

When I tried a snmpget it worked fine and then tried mrtg with OID
That also worked.

My problem was that I had 2 LoadMIBs statements which work on the old
version 
of mrtg , this one I just had to make it one statement.

It shows shows the power of sharing info and pointing some else in the right
direction.

You did tell MRTG about the UCD-SNMP-MIB?  (I cannot remember the
directive for the MRTG config file, was it "LoadMib" or s.th. like that?)
Try asking for the values by number and not by name, if that works it's
MRTG not being able to find a OID to the name, and not UCD-SNMP not
returning values for the OIDs.

No, those are Net-SNMP OIDs.  But that might be just the problem, MRTG
not knowing them by name.

Cool, s.b. still running a Fido node.  Man, those were the days.

They should work.  I work on several Solaris 8 servers that get queried by
RRDtool for exactly those variables.

Well, load average is not cpu utilisation.
