Initial Comment:
Having net-snmp version 5.5 installed on FreeBSD 8.0 the hrSWInstalledType returns \
unknown(1) on all installed packages:

HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrSWInstalledName.1 = STRING: "xz-4.999.9_1"
HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrSWInstalledType.1 = INTEGER: unknown(1)

Returned type should be 4 - application.

There is also no info about OperatingSystem in the hrSWInstalledTable.

bsnmpd returns on the same system correct values:

HOST-RESOURCES-MIB::hrSWInstalledName.1 = STRING: "FreeBSD: FreeBSD 8.0-RELEASE #0: \
