Summary: 64-bit SMUX Linux Problems

Initial Comment:
I am using Net-Snmp. I am using SMUX to communicate 
with snmpd. This works fine in 32 bit linux environment. I 
am trying to make it work under 64 bit Linux 3.0. I 
compiled my code and when I run snmpd and then my 
agent, I always get a SMUX_PDU_CLOSE (0x41) from the 
daemon with reason being authentication failed (5). All 
retries to connect fails.
I checked the snmpd.conf file and it has the correct 
entry
smuxpeer <oid> <passwd> entry and I am trying to do a 
smux simple open with the same password.
My questions are:
1. Is there a problem related to 32 bit & 64 bit pointers 
in the code? Or is it a setting problem?
2. Is there any fixes related to 64bit environment done 
in net-snmp which I am missing?
Please advise. Any help related to using net-snmp under 
64bit linux environment will be highly appreciated.

I've seen smux working fine with recent net-snmp on 64-bit platforms. Can
you retest with net-snmp 5.4 or later, please, and report back?

there has not been a major effort to test net-snmp 64-bit,
so there are almost certainly issues. Try compiling in
32-bit compatability mode, if possible.  If you find and fix
any problems, please submit patches!
